Nitrophenol, eutectics

Singh, N.B. and Kumar, P. Solidification behavior of the cinnamic acid-p-nitrophenol eutectic system. J. Chem. Eng. Data, 31(4) 406-408, 1986. [Pg.1724]

Binary mixtures containing an m/ramolecular H bonded component often have normal melting point diagrams, compound formation being inhibited or absent. A striking example is shown in Fig. 5-4 (taken from 571). The o-nitrophenol-acetamide pair shows just a eutectic—the... [Pg.180]

Example.— An equilibrium diagram belonging to the class of systems just discussed is given by the system -nitrophenol— p-tolui-dine (Fig. 36). The solid phase in equilibrium with solutions represented by the left-hand branch of the curve is < -nitrophenol (m.p. 44 1 ) that in equilibrium with the solutions represented by the right-hand branch, is -toluidine (m.p. 43 3°). At the eutectic point (15 6°), these two solid phases can coexist with the liquid phase. This equilibrium curve, therefore, shows that -nitrophenol and p-toluidine do not combine with each other. [Pg.107]
