Nitrogen potentially mineralizable

Bonde TA, Rosswall T (1987) Seasonal variation of potentially mineralizable nitrogen in four cropping systems. Soil Sci Soc Am J 51 1508-1514... [Pg.224]

Juma et al. [49] give details of studies to determine the most suitable equation, and the most appropriate method for calculating the values of the equation parameters, for estimating net nitrogen mineralization in the soil. Data obtained for several different types of soil are examined. Both the hyperbolic equation and a first-order equation gave accurate predictions of the amount of nitrogen mineralized over an incubation period of 14 weeks, but the estimates of potentially mineralizable nitrogen and its half-life depended on the model used. [Pg.330]

The carbon-to-nitrogen ratio, enzyme activity, and potentially mineralizable nitrogen (PMP) are useful indicators that can be used to determine the soil s capacity to release ammonium N. [Pg.322]

To determine the PMP, field moist soils are incubated under anaerobic conditions at 30°C for a period of 15 days. This method is similar to the one described for potentially mineralizable nitrogen... [Pg.384]
