Nitro-9-phenyldecyl acetate

DMPU (5mL) was added, followed by 6-iodo-l-nitro-2-phenylhexane (31 1.00 g, 3.0 mmol). The reaction was slowly allowed to warm to 0°C and stirred for 2h. After workup, drying over MgS04, and evaporation of the solvents, the residual oil was purified by flash column chromatography (ether/hexane, 1 4), yielding the functionalized nitroalkane 32 (0.80 g, 83% yield) as a clear oil.
