Nitric acid by Raman spectrum

To calculate an approximate value of the equilibrium concaatration quotient for the ionization of nitric acid in 5 molar solution from measurements of Raman spectrum. [Pg.346]

The intensity of the nitrate line at 1048 cm obtained in the spectrum of a solution of nitric add of concentration c was compared with the intensity of the same line obtained from sodium nitrate solutions (Redlich and Bigeleisen, J. Amer. Chem. Soc. 1943, 65,1883), and the concentration 5 of a sodium nitrate solution giving a line of the same intensity as the nitric add solution was interpolated. The intensity of the line in a sodium nitrate solution is proportional to the concentration. Tj pical results are given in table 1. [Pg.346]

The proportionality between intensity of the line and concentration for the sodimn nitrate solution shows that this dectroljrte is completely ionized. Then if we denote the fraction of nitric add ionized in a solution of concentration c by a and the equilibrium concentration quotient by Q, we have [Pg.346]

6 stoicheiometric concentration-of iodine in aqueous potassium iodide solution at equilibrium determined by volumetric analysis, c stoicheiometric concentration of iodide in the potassium iodide solution. [Pg.348]

We have to evaluate [Ij], P ], and P7] in the potassium iodide solution. We assume that [Pg.348]
