NIR-responsive biodegradable

As mentioned earlier, NIR-responsive polymers are of partieular interest sinee the light allows remote eontrol of the drug release proeess in a manner that is both spatially and temporally eontrolled. However, most photoresponsive copolymers have undergone limited in vivo and elinical trials owing to their poor biodegradability. Therefore, discovering NIR-responsive biodegradable polymers is very important. 

Four different kinds of NIR-responsive organic nanomaterials—micelles, biodegradable polypeptides, liposomes, and hydrogels—are discussed in Section 8.4 and their drug or gene release profiles upon NIR irradiation are considered in detail.
