Tetrammino-nickel Nitrite, [Ni(NH3)4](N02)2, is formed by the action of ammonia on a mixture of aqueous nickel sulphate and sodium nitrite at 22° C. After standing for some time a crystalline precipitate is deposited. The substance crystallises in small cherry-red monoclinic crystals which dissolve in cold water, forming a green solution. The solution soon becomes cloudy owing to decomposition of the salt. Even in moist air the salt decomposes, loses ammonia, and changes in colour. The colour of the compound is peculiar to this one salt, a fact remarked upon by Ephraim, who assumes for the compound a different constitution from the other nickel ammino-salts. He suggests the... [Pg.188]

Pentammino - nickel Nitrite, [Ni(NH3)5](N02)2, is produced by the treatment of the tetrammino-salt with dry ammonia gas. It is... [Pg.188]

Far more numerous are the complexes of nickel(II) which contain a variety of either aliphatic or aromatic amines and coordinated nitrite (Table 82). Most of these complexes are prepared by the reaction of the amine in methanolic solution with a methanolic solution of nickel nitrite prepared metathetically from hydrated nickel nitrate and sodium nitrite.1654-1659... [Pg.150]

Nickel nitrite can unite with the nitrites of certain -other metals to yield triple salts resembling in appearance, though not in constitution, the cobalti nitrites. The triple salt, 2KN02.Ca(N02)2.2Ni(N02 g, is a case in point, being insoluble in water and having a yellow colour closely similar to that of Fischer s salt. [Pg.17]

Nickel Nitrite, Ni(N02)2.—A solution of nickel nitrite is obtained by double decomposition of nickel sulphate and barium nitrite, but the salt itself has not been isolated. It yields a stable double salt with... [Pg.126]
