New Models Using the Breakout Parts

We will continue with the schematic from the previous section. The schematic was saved as Section 7 A. Open project Section 7A.opj and open the schematic. [Pg.434]

Click the LEFT mouse button on the graphic symbol for the breakout Zener diode D3,. It should turn pink, indicating [Pg.434]

This window is a text editor and allows us to edit this model. Notice in the window title bar that the model we create will be saved in library SECTION 7AJU). This is a new library created for the current project. When we create a new model, we are also creating a new PSpice library file for the schematic. The project is named Section 7A.opj, so the library file will be named SECTION 7AJIb. When you create new models for a project, a new library file is created with the name of the schematic and the extension .lib.  [Pg.435]

Let us create a new Zener diode with a breakdown voltage of 3 volts. We will name this new Zener model Dz3V. The model parameter in PSpice that controls the breakdown voltage is called BV. Change the model as shown  [Pg.435]

The only model parameter we are defining is BV. All other parameters will be left at the PSpice defaults. Notice that the new model we created is not yet displayed in the left window pane. Select File and then Save from the menus. The file will be saved and the model will be added to the left pane of the window  [Pg.435]
