Neutral and Ionic Interhalogens

The majority of binary interhalogens are best prepared by direct interaction of the elements at various temperatures. Notable exceptions include bromine penta-fiuoride, made by fluorination of the trifluoride, and iodine heptafluoride, similarly prepared from the corresponding pentafluoride.
