Networks with Flexible Chains and Stiff Mesogenic Groups

23 Networks with Flexible Chains and Stiff Mesogenic Groups [Pg.13]

we shall first describe networks containing stiff mesogenic groups in the main chain, connected to one another and crosslinked by flexible spacers and junctions. We then describe similar networks in which the junctions are stifi branchpoints. After these, networks with flexible main chains and stiff mesogenic pendants will be discussed. These are also divisible into two networks in which the junctions consist of flexible units and networks in which flexible chains are connected to one another by means of stiff mesogenic units reacted at both ends. There exist in the literature several LCP networks containing two kinds of mesogens or two kinds of junctions or crosslinks. These are not amenable yet to theoretical description and will not be specifically discussed. [Pg.13]
