Fig. 15.6 Cluster model of a secondary building unit of MFI-SiUcaUte simulating a Si-OH nest arranged in a closed chain (ring), either free (C3) or in H-bonding interaction with one NH3 molecule (C3/NH3). Geometries were fuUy optimized without constraints at B3-LYP/6-31+G(d,p) level. Atomic symbols for cluster atoms are reported in C3 model atomic symbol for ammonia N atom on C3/NH3 model. The arrangement remains puzzling, but the bees easily resolve the problem (or what we see as a problem). When the parasitic bees mate, the male simply sprays some of his F6 on the female. The compound is relatively involatile and so persists on the gravid female as she seeks host nests for her eggs. Perfumed with F6 from her mate, the parasitic female penetrates the host nest and completes her task unchallenged. At least three other species of parasitic Nomada bees gain acceptance by their Andrena hosts in this way. [Pg.120]

Note that the makeup of liquid A to the column is set by the level controller on the reflux drum of the column. This may seem like an unusual arrangement, and it certainly involves nested loops (the reflux drum level is not directly affected by makeup feed, but only through the bottoms composition loop changing heat input). If the makeup could be added directly into the reflux drum, there would be no nesting of control loops. [Pg.280]

CARBORANE. A cry stalline compound composed of boron, carbon, and hydrogen. It can be synthesized in various ways, chiefly by the reaction of a borane (penta-or deca-) with acetylene, either at high temperature in the gas phase or in the presence of a Lewis base. Alkylated derivatives have been prepared. Carborancs have different structural and chemical characteristics and should not be conTused with hydrocarbon derivatives or boron hydrides. The predominant structures arc the cage type, the nest type, and the web type, these terms being descriptive of the arrangement of atoms in the crystals. Active research on cargorane chemistry has been conducted under sponsorship of the U.S. Office of Naval Research, http //www.onr.navy.mil/... [Pg.294]

He kept me generously for several years, until his father heard about our nest. He disapproved and insisted I leave. Then he arranged for Enrico to be elected rector of Verona and shipped him off to the mainland. Alessa sighed for wasted opportunities. [Pg.50]

In order to achieve an accurate control of the internal reactor temperature, a cascade controller can be used. In this type of controller, temperature control is managed by two controllers arranged in cascade, that is, in two nested loops (Figure 9.14). The external loop, called the master, controls the temperature of the reaction mixture by delivering a set value to the slave, the inner loop, which controls the temperature of the heat carrier (Tc). [Pg.219]

In each case consider whether the guest complexation will be of the capsular, nesting or perching type, or some other arrangement. Use this information to guess qualitatively the rate of guest complexation and decomplexation in each case. [Pg.253]

Onion-like structures analogous to nested fullerenes were also obtained in considerable yields (Fig. 5). The heating arrangement with a tubular furnace employed for the preparation of MoS2 nanotubes is shown in Fig. 7. MoOj being sublimable, the Furnace ... [Pg.459]

Although Eq. (5) seems lengthy, it is easy to compute due to its nested form. It is identical to the evaluation of polynomials by Horner s mle—the optimal w ay to arrange a polynomial for rapid evaluation without performing substantial computations during rearrangement. The evaluation of a pol Tiomial of ... [Pg.15]
