Nerol glucoside

The glucosides of menthol, citronellol, nerol, geraniol, cw-myrtenol, L-borneol, linalool and a-terpineol yielded yellow-green fluorescent chromatogram zones in long-wavelength UV light (2 = 365 nm). The same applied to arbutin (hRf 45 — 50).

The problems of very low incorporation and unequal labelling are not encountered with rose petals. Both geraniol (22) and nerol (23) are formed efficiently, as are their )5-glucosides. Degradation of either alcohol showed equal labelling from [2- C]mevalonate at C-4 and C-8. However, more interestingly. 

The high rate of incorporation of MVA into geraniol (4) and nerol (5) and their p-D-glucosides in flower petals of Rosa dilecta (up to 22%) represents an exception to the usually low rates of incorporation which are observed (Chari-wood and Banthorpe, 1978).
