Troj nek et al. found that the thermal decomposition of narceineimide methiodide in the presence of aqueous potassium hydroxide affords a mixture of stereoisomeric narceoneimides (148) along with 10,11-methyl-enedioxy-3,4,12-trimethoxy-7,8-dihydro-5//-isoindolo[l,2-ft][3]benz-azepine-5-one (149), which is identical with the oxidized red product...
