N-Undecyl sulfide

Iododecane added with stirring at -70° under Ng to a soln. of phenylthio-methyllitihium in dry tetrahydrofuran, after 3 hrs. allowed to warm slowly to room temp., the crude intermediate phenyl n-undecyl sulfide isolated, dissolved in a soln. of methyl iodide and dimethylformamide containing Nal, refluxed 18 hrs. under Ng at 75° bath temp. -> 1-iodoundecane.
