N-Doped Mn and Cr Clusters

Although Cr and Mn are neighbors in the periodic table, they exhibit very contrasting behavior while sharing some common features. Cr atoms 

These observations in N-doped Mn and Cr clusters have relevance to the studies of the observed ferromagnetism in Mn- and Cr-doped GaN, as in these systems, it is possible that Mn and Cr atoms could cluster around N. Therefore, Curie temperatures could be enhanced since it is proportional to the square of the moment. Thus, one can expect that as an impurity (Mn or Cr) in GaN, the giant cluster magnets may play a significant role in the observed ferromagnetism in (Ga,Mn)N or (Ga,Cr)N semiconductors.
