Musschenbroek, Pieter

Dutch mathematician and physicist Pieter van Musschenbroek invents the Leyden Jar, which stores an electric charge. 

Pieter van Musschenbroek, Essai de physique (Leyden, 1739) Jean Antoine Nollet, Legom de physique experimentale (Paris Guerin, 1743-1748). These were major texts in experimental physics at the time John Heilbron, Elements of Early Modem Physics (University of California Press, 1982), 6-7. 

Leiden jar (Pieter van Musschenbroek and Ewald Geoi von Kleist) Von Kleist (1745) and Musschenbroek (1746) independently develop the Leiden jar, an early type of capacitor used for storing electric charge.
