Some legends say the Rosicrucians originated with one of the elm s branches at Gisors, known as Ormus. The priory of St Samson d Orleans, so they say, protected the members in the priory of Mount Sion at St Jean Le Blanc. The emblem of Ormus was a red cross in a white rose.
