Somewhat oddly, Moses commanded a renowned goldsmith and architect called Bezaleel to prepare the Bread of the Presence of God. Indeed, Bezaleel was the same goldsmith Moses had commissioned to create the Ark of the Covenant. A rather cryptic text which recalls the sin of the first ancestor (Isa 43 27) refers to Jacob rather than Abraham, since the saying ends with Jacob (meaning the people as a whole) deUvered up to ruin (v 28). There are other allusions to the moral shortcomings of Jacob in the Song of Moses (Deut 3225) and Hos 12 3-4. The transgressive ancestor cannot be Abraham, the friend of God (Isa 41 8). [Pg.30]
