Montmorillonites flake structure

Montmorillonite is structured in separate flakes (Maujean, 1993), thus distinguishing it from the more compact kaolinite, and also giving it remarkable colloidal properties. Montmorillonite, which swells considerably in an aqueous medium, has a large adsorption surface and a strong negative charge. [Pg.324]
