Monomer protonation, titration

Some other acids, like HJ or HC1, are still the strong acids, providing relatively strongly nucleophilic anions. Thus, these acids protonate the heterocyclic monomers, but, except for highly nucleophilic monomers, reaction with counterion leads to 1 1 addition product. (Actually, HC1 or HBr is used as titrating agent for a quantitative determination of oxirane rings [15]).
