Mono boryl Complexes

The complexes 10.8, 10.9 and ds-(Ph3P)2Pt(EMe3)[B(NzPr)2C6H4-l,2] (10.10) have been synthesized by Noth and Habereder via the oxidative addition of boron-tin or boron-germanium bonds to Pt(0) precursors [217]. [Pg.103]

The complexes [Cu(NHC)(MeCN)][BF ], NHC = IPr, SIPr, IMes, catalyse the diboration of styrene with (Bcat) in high conversions (5 mol%, THF, rt or reflux). The (BcaO /styrene ratio has also an important effect on chemoselectivity (mono-versus di-substituted borylated species). Use of equimolecular ratios or excess of BCcat) results in the diborylated product, while higher alkene B(cat)j ratios lead selectively to mono-borylated species. Alkynes (phenylacetylene, diphenylacety-lene) are converted selectively (90-95%) to the c/x-di-borylated products under the same conditions. The mechanism of the reaction possibly involves a-bond metathetical reactions, but no oxidative addition at the copper. This mechanistic model was supported by DFT calculations [68]. [Pg.40]

Although group 5 organometallic systems have been found to be of relevance in transition-metal catalyzed hydroboration reactions, structurally authenticated group 5 boryl complexes remain relatively few in number. Smith and co-workers, for example, have probed the mechanisms for the formation of niobium and tantalum mono- and bis(boryls) from propylene complex precursors, with concomitant formation of propyl boronate esters [31,32]. Of particular interest from a structural viewpoint are the relative merits of alternative bonding descriptions for metal(V) boryl bis(hydrides) as borohydride complexes or as mono(hydride) a-borane systems [31-34]. [Pg.34]

The range of group 9 mono-, bis- and tris(boryl) complexes discussed below provides a useful structural basis on which to discuss the trans influence... [Pg.83]
