Molecular properties gauge dependence

Despite the popularity of the test, it is still poorly understood in terms of generating an actual material property. The test reveals little about molecular dynamics and is not related to molecular structure. It is often criticized by fracture mechanics experts because of uncertainties about gauge length, complex state of stress, its dependence on thickness as well as a wide range of shear rates during the experiment, and the relationship of these factors to real simations [Havriliak, 1996]. [Pg.876]
