Molecular interactions, in aqueous solution

As carbohydrates are very sensitive to modifications of the environment, especially when they are in solution, it is of interest to focus attention on molecular interactions in aqueous solution. Vibrational spectroscopy has been shown31 33 to be one of the techniques most adapted to the study of hydrogen bonding, which is the indicator of molecular interaction in aqueous solutions of sugars. [Pg.9]

Using a thermal micro ATR/ET IR spectroscopic system, a quantitative investigation was made of the molecular interactions in aqueous solutions of poly(A-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAAM). The results indicated that intermolecular interactions predominate between PNIPAAM and water at temperatures below the lower critical solution temperature (LOST). However, above the LCST, PNIPAAM molecules in water are aggregated because of intramolecular interactions and hydrophobic interactions in the system (93). [Pg.25]
