Most of the catalytic enantioselective protocols are limited to aryl aldehydes as substrates. Pu recently disclosed a process involving chiral bifunctional ligand 6 which is perfectly suited for additions to aliphatic aldehydes (7). Traditionally used aryl aldehydes were also converted under the reported conditions. [Pg.272]

Although significant improvements in the catalytic enantioselective addition of Ph2Zn to aldehydes have been reported, some distinct limitations remained to be [Pg.272]

Modern aspects of electrophilic aromatic substitution chemistry address the development of enantioselective variants of these direct (hetero)arene functionalization reactions. For example, enantiomerically enriched metal catalysts, as well as organocatalysts, allowed for the asymmetric addition reactions of (hetero)arenes onto (a,P-unsaturated) carbonyl compounds. Additionally, highly enantioselective arylations of carbonyl compounds were accomplished with organometallic reagents... [Pg.6]
