Oxygenated mixture

It is essential that persons be grounded in hazardous (classified) locations. For most (memical operations, the resistance to ground from the body should not exceed 100 megohms. A lower allowable resistance may be specified for locations where the presence of pri-maiy explosives, hydi ogen-air mixtures, oxygen-enriched mixtures, or certain solid-state devices requires faster charge dissipation. [Pg.2334]

Figure 13.10. Calibration curves for optical sensor and Clark-type oxygen electrode. The phase response of optical sensor and the voltage response of the Clark-type electrode is plotted against percent oxygen in the gas mixture (oxygen and nitrogen) sparged. While the Clark-type electrode shows a linear calibration the optical sensor shows a Siem-Volmer lype relationship (see Section 13.10.2). Figure 13.10. New approaches to the synthesis of SVO cathode material have been reported. In 1995, Takeuchi and Thiebolt patented a new preparation for SVO cathodes prepared via addition of elemental silver to vanadium compounds present in an anhydrous mixture. Oxygen-deficient SVO compounds were found, as well as compounds designed to provide a desired shape in the electrical discharge curve of the cell [59], Following this work in 1996, Takeuchi and Thiebolt patented several methods for the preparation of amorphous SVO prepared by chemical addition reaction at temperatures high enough to melt the mixture, coupled with rapid cooling... [Pg.234]

Several aqueous salt mixtures were selected to verify eq 24. They are listed in Table 1. Some mixtures (oxygen or carbon dioxide with water + sodium sulfate or sodium chloride) have been selected because the Sechenov equation did not provide an accurate correlation of the solubility in these mixtures at high molalities. Other mixtures, listed in Table 1, have also been considered. [Pg.163]

Then it s on to the next building, another inferno, where air enters the mixture. Oxygen burns away, leaving mostly nitrogen, the other essential ingredient in the recipe for ammonia. [Pg.100]

The reactors effluents are sent to two fractionation columns (3, 5) to separate residual C4 from the mixture oxygenate-dimers. At the end, the oxygenates are recovered from raffinate C4 (6) and from dimers (4) and then recycled to reactors. [Pg.157]

Complex FCC oxides of the fluorite type represent oxygen-conduction solid electrolytes (SOE s). They comprise a typical class of materials for the manufacture of sensors of oxygen activity in complex gas mixtures, oxygen pumps, electrolyzers and high-temperature fuel elements. These materials are based on doped oxides of cerium and thorium, zirconium and hafnium, and bismuth oxide. Materials based on zirconium oxide, for example, yttrium stabilized zirconia (YSZ) are the most known and studied among them. This fact is explained both by their processibility and a wide spectrum of practical applications and by the possibility to conduct studies on single crystals, which have the commercial name "fianites" and are used in jewelry. [Pg.301]

The +2 oxidation state of chromium is unstable but can be prepared from the reduction of dichromate(vi) ions. Dichromate(vi) ions can be reduced by zinc and dilute acid to chromium(iii) and then chromium(ii). Hydrogen is produced from a side reaction between the zinc and the acid. This must be allowed to escape, and air should be kept out of the reaction mixture. Oxygen in the air rapidly re-oxidizes chromium(ii) to chromium(iii). A simple approach is to put a piece of cotton wool in the top of the flask (or test-tube). This allows the hydrogen to escape, but stops most of the air getting in against the flow of the hydrogen. [Pg.481]

The Lewis number Le = alD is the mixture thermal diffusivity a ratio to the limiting reagent diffusion coefficient D. In lean mixtures the limiting reagent is hydrogen and in rich mixtures - oxygen. [Pg.6]
