Mixing equipment intermeshing

Paddle agitator n. One of the simple types of mixing equipment for plastics in the form of dispersions, pastes, and doughs. The most common form comprises a set of rotating blades driven by a vertical shaft and intermeshing with a set of fixed blades. 

Equipment for viscous mixing usually has a small clearance between impeller and vessel walls, a relatively small volume, and a high power per unit volume. Intermeshing blades or stators may be present to prevent material from cyhndering on the rotating impeller.

Details are provided on the RingExtruder, which is equipped with 12 intermeshing co-rotating screws arranged in a stationary circular configuration, for the continuous mixing of mbber. The advantages of this continuous mixer over twin-screw extmders are demonstrated and the results of extmsion trials on various robbers and a profitability study are presented and discussed. 7 refs.
