Employ a model that mathematically describes a size distribution of this type, adjust the model parameters for best fit, and estimate the missing fraction above 564 /tm after correcting the observed frequencies, continue with a correct statistical analysis. 

Muonium (Mu) is the lightest hydrogen-like atom (mMu = 0.11 mH) available for chemical research it has a positive muon (/jl+, t = 2.2 fisec) as the nucleus. The muon spin resonance (/tSR) technique is described in several review articles (16, 99—102). Most of the research is performed in the condensed phases, but because of the development of the surface muon beams (103, 104), experiments in the gaseous phase have received more attention. At present three muonic fractions can be detected (1) fan, free muonium (2) fa, free n+, or Mu bound in a diamagnetic compound and (3) fa, Mu bound in a paramagnetic compound. In liquid phases, there is quite often a missing fraction, fa = 1 -fau - fa - fa ... 

All inequivalent probe sites yield a signal, that is, there is no missing fraction . 

It must be noted that the polarizations Pp, P and P inclucfc only the specfes which have coherent p" spin. Any p spin that has become out of phase or depolarized does not contribute to the coherent precession and simply merges in the background. Thus quite often, the sum of the observed polarization does not amount to unity, and the polarization that has been lost is called lost polarization or missing fraction , P. ... 

Lost polarization (or missing fraction) is the p spin polarization that cannot be observed as a coherent pSR signal for any kind of chemical states ( q. 16). 

High-burnup fuel pellets are also depleted in fission gases within the fuel grains at the p>ellet rim zone. From the investigations it was concluded that the missing fraction was accumulated in gas bubbles in the UO2 matrix, but that no measurable release from these zones into the free volume of the fuel rod occurred even at high burnup levels. 

The branching ratios given in Table 13.1 follow from the analysis of the J "(3772) decay under the assumptions that the latter has a definite isospin (0 or 1) and that its only decay mode is DD. The missing fraction of D decay is attributed to neutral channels, small unidentified channels and, mostly, inadequate detection efficiency. 

A fraction x of the Mn4+ ions is missing in the manganese sublattice. For charge compensation, each Mn4+ vacancy is coordinated by four protons in the form of OH anions at the sites of the O ions.

The rate of Mn transfer between the EXC and the ERO fractions decreased after 15 days, with only partial recovery of ERO-Mn to its initial and presaturation value. The missing Mn resided in the OM and the RO fractions, and apparently it was held in non-accessible sites, which were slow to equilibrate with the solution. This required a much longer period of time to be reoxidized. 

Numerous additional examples of the evaluation of plant essential oils as insect repellents exist in the literature however, rarely are bioassay-guided fractionations performed to determine the constituents responsible for the activity of these plant essential oils. When attempts are made to identify active constituents, they are often of a non-systematic manner and usually focus on those constituents that are commercially available or the major constituents. Such approaches have the potential of missing unusual or novel structural types which could be highly active compounds with the potential for commercial development.
