Miscellaneous forms of chemical attack

This section summarizes observations on the actions on concrete made using Portland or composite cements not considered earlier. There have been few systematic or detailed chemical studies, and the information given is based largely on results reported by Lea (L6) and Kuenning (K69). 

Some organic compounds, such as sugar solutions, attack concrete, presumably through complexing of Ca and consequent dissolution of CH and the hydrated silicate and aluminate phases.
