Miscellaneous and conclusions

Recently, various results have been reported which seem to settle any controversy about the sequential lepton hypothesis for the t. In particular, [Pg.314]

One measures the dependence of the decay rate upon the correlation between the normal to the triangle formed by the momenta of the three pions and the direction of the 3n system in the LAB. Such a dependence signals parity violation in r decay. (The fact that parity is violated in T decay allows one to deduce its state of polarisation from the angular distribution of its decay products (see, e.g. Bourrely et d., 1980). The importance of the polarisation of the rs produced in e e — t t is discussed in Section 8.8.) The measured asymmetry leads to the conclusion that the Ur is indeed left-handed. [Pg.315]

in turn, combined with the LEP demonstration of three neutrino species, gives strong support to the hypothesis of three left-handed lepton [Pg.315]
