BH3-PH2CH3 and BD3-PH2CH3 were studied by microwave Fourier transform spectroscopy and analyzed for B nuclear quadrupole hyperfine splitting as well as CH3 and BH3 torsion fine structure. The coupling constants are listed and the mean experimental hyperfine splitting is 88 kHz for both species. The CH3 internal rotation barriers are 1.932 and 1.933 kcal/mol, respectively, and the BH3 barrier is 2.559 kcal/mol. The authors interpretation of the nuclear quadrupole coupling constants indicates that the classical dative a bond is supplemented by d -P j backdonation [4]. [Pg.19]

The resolution of the hyperfine structure in microwave Fourier transform spectra yielded precise values of the N coupling constants. The assignment of the bands was facilitated by comparing them with the simpler spectrum obtained with the mixed isotopomers H NNN and HNN N. The 1qi Oqo transition was used for the determination of eqaaQ the other... [Pg.99]
