The abundance of pollen decreases rapidly with depth in the upper 0.14 m of SL profile (Table 4). Pollen was scarce below 0.14 m, with abundance of only 0-6 grains g-1, and no pollen was found below 0.26 m. Only modem fem spores were found below 0.26 m, including mainly Dicranop-teris, Hicriopteris, Microlepia and other monolete and trilete spores, and turned to be monotonous with depth (Fig. 6). [Pg.244]
