The lipid content of rotifers is 9-28 % of the dry weight, of which 34—43 % is phospholipids and 20-55 % triacylglycerols (Lubzens and Zmora, 2003). Rotifers fed on microalgae have high concentrations of vitamin Bi, B2, C and E (van der Meeren et al, 2008). The vitamin content of the feed is reflected in that of the rotifers. Rotifers cultured on a mixture of Chlorella sp. and I. galbana can reach 2289 mg ascorbic acid/g DW in lab-scale cultures (Merchie et al, 1995).
