Michael acyclic product formation

Selectfluor has been used to brominate the a-position of both cyclic and acyclic activated alkenes (Scheme 7.120) [174]. The reaction conditions were remarkably mild, and the chemistry could tolerate the presence of water. The bromination reaction was selective for the formation of the a-substitution product, and moderate to excellent yields were obtained. While only a few examples were described in this report, the operational simplicity and the widespread availability of a host of Michael acceptors make this an attractive approach. [Pg.638]
