Meyer, Randall

The longest chapter in the book is devoted to polymer solutions. Mark was well aware that the classical equations contained in thermodynamics books like Lewis and Randall were inadequate for the quantitative description of polymer solutions, but he did not know yet where to find more than an admission of error and a few qualitative observations. Nevertheless, his collaborations with K.H. Meyer helped to establish the experimental situation in some detail. Meyer was now well established at the University of Geneva as Professor of Organic Chemistry. A description of his Interscience monograph on Natural and Synthetic High Polymers (Vol. IV, 1942) will be found below [16]. [Pg.25]
