An instrumental protocol for MALDI data collection can also be a powerful tool for minimizing signal deviations [18, 83, 85, 134]. Data acquisition at constant laser energy was compared to data acquisition with constant ion abundance [134]. 

The latter studies showed unproved reprodudbihty, as well as allowing more consecutive laser shots at the same position. A linear standard curve (r = 0.9997 from 0.05 to 30ngmT ) was demonstrated for chlormequat using an isotopicaUy labeled IS and data collection using constant ion abundance.
