Direct Method of Liapunov. The direct method of Liapunov was encountered in the previous section in a discussion of the fluctuations in temperatures and concentrations of non-steady combustion in closed systems. The introduction of such methods to open systems occurred much earlier in the papers of Warden, Aris, and Amundson ° on the CSTR.
