Methacryloxy functional silane

In sulfur-cured EPDM systems, the primary amino- and mercaptofunctional silanes can participate in the cure mechanism to a far greater extent than the vinylsilane as shown by the higher modulus values. In the peroxide-cured EPDM system, all silanes promote significant improvements in modulus but in different degrees depending on their relative reactivity. The methacryloxy functional silane... [Pg.79]

Cross-linked beads made by vinylic polymerisations usually have some residual polymerisable functionalities [8], which allows the secondary imprinting polymerisation to covalently attach to the bead structure giving very stable particles. Where glass or silica is used a pretreatment with vinyl [9] or methacryloxy [2] silane derivatives ensures stable covalent attachment, while at the same time blocking surface silanol groups which might otherwise interfere with imprinting. [Pg.307]

Poland). Contrary to other versions of this method, the catalytic system used in this reaction (tertiary phosphines with KI) made it possible to obtain product in high yield, under mild conditions [12]. 3-Chloropropyltrimethoxysilane (which is also manufactured by Unisil) is a good starting material for synthesis of various silane coupling agents, such as methacryloxy-, amino-, mercapto-or ureido-functional silanes. [Pg.538]

The character of the deposition of y-(methacryloxy)-propyl-trimethoxysilane (MPS) on the surface of clay and calcium carbonate was studied. While most of MPS resists tetrahydrofuran washing when deposited on clay, MPS is removed by THF from calcium carbonate. Physico-sorbed layers can be removed by a solvent, whereas chemisorbed layers cannot be. Calcium carbonate does not contain hydroxyl groups (only some are available in admixtures), unlike clay which has a surface composed of Si-OH and Al-OH functionalities capable of covalent bond formation with silanol. Clay retains 66% of the silane applied, whereas only 19% of silane remained on the surface of calcium carbonate. [Pg.321]
