Metaphor library

For those readers who are not yet familiar with mass spectrometry, the introduction provides an explanation of the basics of mass spectrometry and its instrumentation as well as practical aspects and applications in bioanalysis. In essence, arrays can be metaphorically associated with a large library bookshelf. Each book on the shelf has a code, or index. In order to retrieve a book from the shelf, librarians normally use a code that provides the coordinates to locate the book. 

The Gesture Detector component uses the ARToolkit library to capture the 3D user position in the physical space. We are using a webcam while the user is moving a printed marker in the physical space to control the 3D medical viewer. Each time this component detects the marker in the video image its position is sent to the medical viewer component resulting the translation (x, y, z axis) operation of the selected virtual hand metaphor.
