Metallocene polyethylene temperature

Chen X, Yasuda K, Sato Y et al (2004) Measurement and correlation of phase equilibria of ethylene + n-hexane + metallocene polyethylene at temperatures between 373 and 473 K and at pressures up to 20 MPa. Fluid Phase Equilib 215(1) 105-115... [Pg.16]

Metallocene-catalysed very low density polyethylene (m-VLDPE) has become available with densities of as low as 0.903. This is of use for sealing layers of multi-layer films since sealing can commence at lower temperatures than with conventional materials such as LLDPE and EVA (see Section 11.6) with the polymer seal exhibiting both cold strength and hot tack strength. [Pg.228]

Harden s (27) market survey of the growth of polyolefin foams production and sales shows that 114 x 10 kg of PE was used to make PE foam in 2001. The growth rate for the next 6 years was predicted as 5-6% per year, due to recovery in the US economy and to penetration of the automotive sector. In North America, 50% of the demand was for uncrosslinked foam, 24% for crosslinked PE foams, 15% for EPP, 6% for PP foams, 3% for EVA foams and 2% for polyethylene bead (EPE) foam. As protective packaging is the largest PE foam use sector, PE foam competes with a number of other packaging materials. Substitution of bead foam products (EPP, EPE, ARCEL copolymer) by extruded non-crosslinked PE foams, produced by the metallocene process was expected on the grounds of reduced costs. Compared with EPS foams the polyolefin foams have a lower yield stress for a given density. Compared with PU foams, the upper use temperature of polyolefin foams tends to be lower. Eor both these reasons, these foams are likely to coexist. [Pg.24]

The Mw/Mn ratio is usually equal to 5-10 for polyethylene [49,64,66,67, 123,244-247], A much lower polydispersity is displayed by polymers obtained in polymerisation with homogeneous metallocene catalysts the Mw/Mn ratio usually does not significantly exceed a value of 2 [22,95,101,112,138,140], By polymerising propylene with soluble vanadium-based Ziegler-Natta catalysts at low temperature, a very narrow molecular weight distribution of the polypropylene has been found (the Mw/Mn ratio usually reaches values of 1.15-1.25) and a linear increase in its Mn with time has been observed, indicating a noticeable living character of the polymerisation [75,76,241],... [Pg.97]

High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE). Polymerization of ethylene to polyethylenes is most often carried out at low temperature and pressure, using either the Ziegler aluminum triethyl plus titanium tetrachloride catalyst system, the Phillips chromic oxide plus silica plus alumina system, or more recently the newer metallocene single-site catalyst systems. [Pg.642]

Polyethylene is most commonly polymerized with cyclopentadiene metallocenes of Ti, Zr, and Hf, with zirconenes preferred for their stability. Polymerization rates are very high and are a function of the Al/transition metal ratio. Polymer molecular weight decreases with increased reaction temperature, because higher temperatures accelerate j9-hydride transfer. [Pg.344]
