Mesophase incorporated oxygen

Oxygen may be incorporated into the mesophase (57,58) Incorporated oxygen is lost as carbon monoxide or dioxide in the calcination step so that the oxygenation reaction should be minimized. The precise control of such mesophase modification reactions may be a future problem.
