Medical Textiles Medtech

For decades, textile structures have been widely used in medical applications. The biggest advantages of textiles are the possibility to produce 2-D and 3-D structures, their good drapeability, the possibility to adjust the mechanical and morphological properties on micro- and also on macroscale, their large specific surface, and the possibility to combine different materials. 

The German Medizinproduktegesetz (Law for Medical Products) distinguishes between hygiene and medical textiles (Hill et al, 2012 Rabe et al, 1998).
