Mechanical analysis of adhesion

At one time the stress analysis required for the use of fracture mechanics would have posed a formidable problem for many practical applications. This situation is becoming progressively less of a problem as more sophisticated and better numerical methods for stress analysis become available (30). For example, the use of finite element techniques in the fracture mechanics analysis of adhesive bonds has been explored (31).
