This McRae-Bayliss model of solvatoehromism as well as modifieations thereof have been carefully reexamined and tested by Brady and Carr [318] and by Ehrenson [318]. The inadequacies of the McRae-Bayhss approach to solvatoehromism are outlined. Alternative reaction field models have been tested, albeit with only hmited success [318].
