Maximum transverse joint spacings for JRC pavements

When the quantity of slab reinforcement is 600 mm /m, the maximum transverse joint spacing is recommended to be 25 m. 

When the slab reinforcement is 600 mmVm, the maximum joint spacing depends on the slab thickness. The recommended spacing is as follows  

Every third transverse joint is recommended to be an expansion joint. 

The above are valid for concretes with aggregates having a coefficient of thermal expansion 10 X 10 per degree Celsius (sand gravels).
