In addition to the relatively small scale movements of the antennules and maxillipeds, recent field observations of Squilla empusa suggest that vigorous pleopod fanning movements can create relatively large currents in and out of the burrow that may enhance signal reception or dispersion (Mead, unpublished). [Pg.227]
