Flexible luminescent polymers were prepared by doping europium(III) complexes to matrices composed of poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) and ionic liquids. The liquids were reported to act as a plasticizer for PMMA. The films doped with [choline]3[Eu(dpa)3] show a very long lifetime (1.8 ms) of the Dq excited state.
