Master and servant

A trade secret has no geographical boundaries and no fixed lifetime. It expires when the subject matter becomes "generally known, so that it is no longer a secret. Comments on the point are too lengthy to explore here. Much of the law devolves from the centuries old relationship of master and servant. If the master disclosed a trade secret to a servant, in confidence, the parties were of equal size. With modem corporations and individual employees the sizes are disproportionate. Still, however, a secret or confidential information can pass from one to the other. A corporation may spread a confidence among as many as have a reasonable need to know without the secret s losing its confidential status, but if spread too widely, the secret aspect may be lost.

A combination of force and position control can be performed when force control is used as the master and the second as a servant. An application for force and position control may be FSP of a casting where the surface varies somewhat from part to part. The force control can be used to measure and react to surface variations, while the position is monitored and, if outside certain limits, the system can shut down or create warning messages. 

Petty I conceive the reason why we would exclude apprentices, or servants, or those that take alms, is because they depend upon the will of other men and should be afraid to displease them.
