Manufacturing Processes of UHMWPE-CNT Nanocomposites

The mcOTporation of CNTs into a polymeric matrix, such as UHMWPE is quite difficult due to strong Van der Waals forces which tend to clump the 

CNTs together leading to poor distribution of the CNTs into the polymeric matrix. To promote the disentanglement of the CNTs and hence a better dispersion within the UHMWPE matrix, functionalization techniques must be envisaged when preparing the nanoparticles prior to their incorporation in the polymer.
