Reactions of stable nucleophilic carbenes with main group element compounds have recently been reviewed Garmalt, C. J. Cowley, A. H.

Engl., 12, 734 (1973), report on the interpretation of the PE spectra of main group element compounds by comparison of equivalent radical cation states of chemically related molecules, based on MO perturbation arguments. 

The selective Bock Oxidation using AICI3/CH2Q2 in the meantime has formed widespread application for main group element compounds the prediction of one-electron oxidizability based on first ionization energies IEJ < 8 eV is valid also for numerous other classes of compounds. Some use has been made of severe reaction conditions in which a metal salt or complex is reduced in the presence of a main group element compound [Eqs. (229)-(233)]83 375,378,384,385 to give extremely robust compounds. Unfortunately, little of the subsequent chemistry of these high-nuclearity species has been reported, except for spectroscopic investigations of the rhodium compounds that have shown the metal frameworks to be fluxional as well as the ligand complement. 

Although transition metal complexes have been most studied, many examples of non-metal and main group element compounds exist such as those of Sn, Sb, and Bi and for non-metals compounds of both Te11 and Teiv.131... 

An organometallic approach to kinetically stabilized transition metal main-group element compounds of the half sandwich type involves formal substitution of the C5H5- against a CsMcs-unit at the metal promising both a better steric shielding of the coordination sphere and an increased electron donor capacity of the metal fragment [10],...
