Magnetochemical data

All the complexes were isolated and characterized by elemental analysis data, IR and 111 NMR spectroscopy (Zn chelate), and magnetochemical data (Ni, Cu chelates). It was established that the type of formed products depends on the metal nature all three complexes 804,816, and 817 were isolated for M =Ni, two compounds 804 and 816 for Cu and Cd, and only one complex 804 was prepared in case of M = Zn. 

The formulae 899 and 900 are attributed to the complexes discussed only on the basis of elemental analysis and magnetochemical data and, in this respect, provoke definite doubts, especially in the case of 899. At the same time, it is necessary to take into account that the coordination mode of the examined ligand, as in 899, is quite real and was established by x-ray diffraction for the electrochemically obtained... 

III. A Survey of Magnetochemical Data on First-Row d-Block Transition-Metal Tetranuclear Cluster Complexes... 

TbIr4B4 has NdCo4B4-type, P42/n, a = 7.557(3), c = 3.979(2) and forms congru-ently from the melt (Rogl, 1979 X-ray and metallographic analysis, magnetochemical data).

Similar magnetochemical arguments have been used in mixed-metal derivatives of dodecanuclear Ni 2 and Co coordination complexes in which one of the 12 metal centers is replaced, resulting in Ni Co11 and Co j Ni11 stoichiometries in which the heterometal position can assume one of two symmetry-equivalent sites. In this case, simulations of the susceptibility data for the two possible scenarios of each MuM derivatives were able to identify the preferred substitution site.42... 

With respect to a related measurement. Waring and Custer (2139) review the data on Verdet constants. The magneto-optic studies do not reveal distinctive effects of the H bond. Waring and Custer feel the negative results serve as additional magnetochemical evidence that the H bond occurs as simple electrostatic attraction. ... 

Hiebl et al. (1984) studied the structural and magnetochemical behavior within the concentration section Ce(Ru, j OSj )2Si2. A complete solid solution with the ThCrj Si 2-type of structure and symmetry I4/mmm is found to exist. Lattice parameters from X-ray powder data of as-cast alloys were as listed below, table 33. 

An inspection of the experimental data for normal paramagnets shows that deviations from the spin-only formula mostly towards higher values are frequently found. In fact, the amount to which the orbital contribution is quenched depends on the electron configuration and on the symmetry of the particular compound. The structural implications of these observations have been widely used in the past and the results are discussed in various magnetochemical publications [6, 25] and standard coordination chemistry textbooks. It has been found that, in general, the application of ligand field theory is often very useful in order to understand the magnetic behaviour of transition metal complexes. In this respect, we refer to the texts listed in the reference section I.I.8.2.
