Magic numbers identification

It is of interest to explore the possibility of an independent identification of magic numbers and the neutron spectrum by the relationship between neutron number and Farey sequences as mapped by Ford circles. Such an analysis presupposes the occurrence of periodic sequences of 32, 18, 8 and... 

The fullerenes were first discovered by laser ablation cluster ion formation in a mass spectrometer.89 Soon after the identification of C60 as a magic number cluster, [LaC60]+ was also identified.90 Later, macroscopic quantities of fullerenes were produced by the carbon arc method91 soon followed by the macroscopic production of the lanthanum endohedral fullerenes.92 Fullerene chemistry has developed rapidly since the preparation of macroscopic quantities of these compounds. Figure 11.13 shows the systematic change of o-decay half-life with nuclear charge and mass for heavy nuclei, lines connect data for constant Z. Odd-even effects and influaice from magic numbers are visible. Such diagrams have historically played an important role in the synthesis and identification of isotopes of the heaviest elemrats.
